About the trip
Tirupati is the gateway to the Tirumala hills and the Sri Venkateswara temple, one of the most important pilgrim shrines in India. Many families from Chennai make a one-day trip for darshan, often adding Padmavathi temple at Tiruchanur and Kapila Theertham. The road runs north-west through Tiruvallur and Puttur, then climbs the Tirumala ghat for the last half hour.
