About the trip
Wayanad is a green highland district of spice gardens, coffee estates, forests and waterfalls on the Kerala–Karnataka border. People go for the cool climate, easy treks, wildlife drives and homestays among the plantations. From Kannur the road climbs through Iritty or Kuthuparamba and the Periya ghat to Mananthavady. It works as a long day trip, though most prefer a night or two.
