About the trip
Palani is one of the six holy abodes of Lord Murugan, and the hill temple of Dhandayuthapani is among the most visited shrines in Tamil Nadu. Pilgrims come for darshan, head tonsuring and the famous panchamirtham prasadam. From Madurai the road runs north to Dindigul and then west through Oddanchatram. A same-day return is common, and some continue up to Kodaikanal.
