About the trip
Palani is home to the Arulmigu Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple, one of the six abodes of Lord Murugan, set on a hill above the town. Pilgrims climb the steps, or take the winch or rope car, and many come carrying kavadi during Thai Poosam and Panguni Uthiram. From Trichy the route runs via Dindigul and Oddanchatram, with the Palani hills rising ahead.
