What to see
Displays cover the architecture of the temple and the way it developed over the centuries, along with the rituals performed for the deity each day. A popular section retells the legend of Lord Venkateswara's marriage to Goddess Padmavathi, which lies behind many of the temple's customs.
Other exhibits trace the long tradition of offerings made by devotees, which explains how the temple became one of the wealthiest religious institutions in India. There are also old photographs of Tirumala and of festivals such as the annual Brahmotsavam.

Timings and tips
The museum is open from 8 am to 8 pm. Allow about an hour. It works well as a calm break between darshan and other visits in Tirumala, and it is especially useful for children and first-time visitors who want to understand the temple's traditions. Tirumala has a dress code for the temple, so wearing traditional clothing for the whole day keeps things simple.
How to reach
The museum is in Tirumala, about 23 km uphill from Tirupati town by the ghat road. The nearest railhead is Tirupati station, roughly 23 km down the hill, while the airport near Renigunta is about 40 km from the museum. Buses and shared taxis run frequently from Tirupati to Tirumala.
Nearby places
The Venkateswara temple is close by in Tirumala. Down in Tirupati town, the Govindaraja Swamy temple and the waterfall shrine of Kapila Theertham are worth adding. We can arrange a Tirupati trip with darshan planning, hotels and local transport.
