What to see and do
A walking path leads from the parking area through the forest to the foot of the falls. Along the way there is a canopy walkway of about 240 metres strung between the trees, which gives a different view of the forest. Keen walkers can take longer trails with forest department guides.

Wildlife
The surrounding forest is part of a protected area and shelters sambar, mouse deer and the slender loris, along with the golden gecko, a lizard found only in these hills. Birdlife is good in the early morning.
Sri Siddheswara Swamy Temple
This Shiva temple near the falls is about 140 years old. Its linga is said to have been brought from an older, ruined temple at Rayavaripalli. The temple is busiest during Maha Shivaratri, when pilgrims from Tirupati and the surrounding villages come for night-long worship.
Best time to visit
Come between November and January, after the monsoon, when the falls are full and the weather is mild. In summer the flow is lower, but the forest still offers welcome shade from the heat of the plains.
How to reach
Talakona is roughly 60 km from Tirupati railway station and a little further from Tirupati airport at Renigunta. Taxis are the easiest option, and buses run from Tirupati and Chittoor. It combines well with Tirumala, the Padmavathi Ammavari Temple at Tiruchanur and Srikalahasti on a two- or three-day trip.
