About the trip
Bangalore is Karnataka's capital and a major hub for work, flights and trains. Most people on this route are heading home after a Nilgiris holiday or catching a flight from Kempegowda Airport. The drive comes down the hills to Mudumalai, crosses Bandipur forest, then joins the Mysore–Bangalore expressway, so it is a long but comfortable day in a good car.

The route runs via Gudalur or Kalhatti, Mudumalai, Bandipur, Gundlupet and Mysore. Leave Ooty by 7–8 am, as the forest roads close at night; Mysore makes a good lunch halt.
