What to see
The temple is built around a handful of striking features, and most visitors walk through them in a loop:
- The seated Shiva, about 65 feet tall, shown in a calm meditative pose.
- A Ganesha statue roughly 32 feet high and a Shiva Linga of about 25 feet.
- Replicas of the twelve Jyotirlingas, each of which can be worshipped here.
- An artificial pond laid out to recall Lake Manasarovar in Tibet.
- Themed caves meant for quiet prayer and meditation.
- A Navagraha shrine for the nine planetary deities.
Panch Dham Yatra experience
One section of the complex recreates a pilgrimage to five sacred northern sites: Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kedarnath, Badrinath and Amarnath. It is a symbolic walk rather than a replica of each place, but many older devotees who cannot make the Himalayan journey find it meaningful, and children tend to enjoy the cave-like passages.
Timings
The temple is usually open from 8 am to 1 pm and from 5 pm to 8:30 pm, although some listings describe it as open round the clock. The evening session, when the statues are lit up, is the most popular time to visit, and weekends and Shivaratri bring large crowds, so plan for queues.
How to reach
Its location on Old Airport Road, which is well served by city buses, autorickshaws and app cabs, makes it easy to reach. Bangalore City railway station is the main railhead, and the nearest airport is Kempegowda International, from where a taxi is the easiest option. Allow extra time for traffic at peak hours.
