Architecture
The whole temple is built of white marble. Three domes crown the structure, each said to stand for a different approach to Hindu faith. Stained glass windows show scenes from Hindu mythology, and the walls carry verses from the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads.
An unusual feature is the carvings of thinkers and saints from several traditions on the outer walls, placed alongside the more familiar deities. A tidy garden surrounds the building, and there is a small shop near the entrance.
Festivals
Janmashtami, marking Krishna's birth, and Diwali are the big occasions. The temple is decorated with lights and flowers, and crowds are much larger than usual, so go early in the evening if you want space to look around. The evening aarti on ordinary days is peaceful and worth staying for.
Timings and dress code
The temple is open every day from 9 am until 9 pm, and there is no entry fee. About half an hour is enough to see it properly. There is no strict dress code, but clothes that cover arms and legs are appropriate. Photography inside the main hall may be restricted. Shoes are left at a counter near the entrance, and the marble floor can get hot on sunny afternoons, so an early morning or evening visit is more comfortable.
Best time and how to reach
Jaipur is pleasant from October to March, which is the best season for sightseeing. The temple is in the city, close to Moti Dungri, and easily reached by taxi or auto-rickshaw from anywhere in Jaipur. We can fit it into a Jaipur city tour, ideally at dusk after a day at the forts.
