What to see
The main deities are Sri Radha and Krishna. Other shrines honour Krishna with the gopis Lalita and Vishakha, Jagannath with Baladeva and Subhadra, and Sri Nitai Gauranga (Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda). A gold-plated flagstaff stands before the sanctum, and a gold-plated kalasha crowns the tower. Inside, colourful chandeliers hang over the prayer hall.
Beyond the shrine
The temple complex has shops selling books on devotional subjects, clothing, jewellery, bags and garlands with Krishna motifs. The temple's aim, as its devotees describe it, is to encourage a simple, spiritual life and harmony between people. Chanting sessions take place through the day, and anyone can join in.
Tips for your visit
Weekends and festivals such as Janmashtami are very crowded, so a weekday visit is more relaxed. Dress modestly, remove footwear at the entrance and follow the marked route through the complex. Bags and cameras may need to be deposited before entering the main shrine, so travel light.
