About the trip
Nandi Hills is an old hill fortress north of Bangalore, once a summer retreat for Tipu Sultan and later the British. People drive up before dawn to watch the sun rise over a sea of clouds, then walk among the old stone walls and temples. The road goes past the airport on NH 44 and climbs a short hairpin ghat to the top.
