About the trip
Srirangapatna is an island town on the Kaveri just before Mysore, once the capital of Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. It has the old fort walls, Tipu's summer palace, his tomb and the ancient Ranganathaswamy temple. Nearby Ranganathittu bird sanctuary adds a boat ride among nesting birds. The Bangalore–Mysore expressway gets you there in about two hours.
